the story
the story of my stamps is, having the image of the giraffe in the Savannah which is the first stamp , then the next stamp is with a mosquito on the skin of the giraffe about and the 3rd stamp is showing the mosquito taking blood from the giraffe. i thought this was a unique story for 3 stamp designs.
3rd stamp
2nd stamp.

this is my 2nd stamp, i like the shadow, i did this by adding lights into the 3DS max above and to the side of the mosquito. The back ground is off the texture that i created in photoshop i then imported it to photoshop to create the edge of the stamplike i did for the first stamp. i found an image of the queens head and placed it in photoshop on top of the mosquite image and added the text on as well. i made the queens head silver and made it facing the left as on most of british stamps the head it always facing the left.
1st finish stamp

this is the image of my first stamp, if you cant tell this is an image of a giraffe i found the image of the Savannah on google. i created a plain in 3Ds max added the giraffe's and the tree in the back ground then i saved it as a jpeg imported it in to photo shop used the magic wound tool to select the edge of the out line of the stamp that i wanted to use then went on the layer where the image that i imported over as a jpeg was and deleted it to create this effect. i made the image bright to give it the sandy effect.

vein

my last stamp was of the inside of a vein, i created this by using a chafed cylinder squishing the middle with the soft selection tool, then using the turbo modifier to round off all the sharp edges. i then created different red blood cells in the same way but making them all different.
i created the white blood cell by creating a sphere and using bevol tool to extrude the polygons out forming the spikes
for the main vein i created a cylinder and made it hollow by extruding into it. i then added the colour red and added a noise to create the texture.
then i created the mosquito mouth that it used to drink the blood. i used a cylinder and created a point by extruding it .

mosquito

now i have made the shape of the mosquito i needed to add a bit of detail. so far i have started adding the hairs where the wings meet as i found this on a few images that i have gathered. i created on hair using a cylinder then using the beval tool i extruded it up and made the cylinder into a point, then using the soft selection tool curved it round, then i just made copy's of the hair and just changed the angel and where it was being placed.

head

how i started the giraffe's head. i started with a square with only 1 polygons, i will add more polygons when i need to by inserting them. i got the basic shape of the head by extruding polygons out where i needed to for the ears and the horns. to create the shape of the mouth i used the scale tool.

once i had done that i needed to create the shapes of the ears, i did this by moving around the edges . once i had got the shape i used the insert tool to add detail to the ear.
giraffe
my 3d stamps will be made up from a giraffe, mosquito and the inside of a vain where the mosquito is sucking blood from. i will also be creating the scene for where the giraffe is set.

once i had sorted out the detail of the body i then had to change the size of the giraffe's neck as it was too big for the body. i did this by scaling the neck down to hit the body using the scale tool. then after i scaled down the neck i then had to Aline all the edges of the polygons to create a better mesh.

the start of making the giraffe. i imported an image to act as a guide line. I started with the neck of the giraffe as i thought that was the easies place to start from as it is a cylinder. i then angled the cylinder to the right angle the the image was. i then cut the cylinder in half and added the symmetry modifier which made it easy for me as i only had to consecrate on one side. then using the edge tool and the shift button i then started to extend and make new polygons following the shape of the image.
once i had created the body i had to create the legs, i did this by insetting then extruding polygons down
at the moment the giraffe legs were looking in the style of john Wayne.
the next stage was to add some detail into the body i did this by bringing the edges of the polygons in and out creating this effect.

wing

i created this wing in photoshop. i got an image of a wing of the Internet, i cut out what i needed, and following the leaf tutorial that we was shown in class. i then will then import this image in 3d max putting it on a plain and there i have my image of a wing. i need to play around with the texture to see what gives the best effect.
mosquito
I started creating a mosquito in 3d max. to create this i broke down the body of mosquito into shapes. i found out that the best shape to use to create the body of the mosquito was a square. The square had only one polygon which made it easy for me to work with. if i wanted to add more polygons i could. to add more polygons in to the square you select the edge running parallel where you want to edge of the next polygon to be, you then click loop, the by clicking connect you will create another polygon.

This is the image that i was following, i took this image from the science museum. this is a giant mosquito.
First i created the body of the mosquito. i started with a square and extruded it till i had the shape that i wanted, i could change the angel of the body with the rotate tool. i used the scale tool to make the square bigger or smaller when i extruded it.

once i had the head sorted i had to start with the legs. i started with a cylinder. extruded it . i extruded it abit at a time and added an angle on it with the rotate tool. so it would curve back on its self.

as you can see in the image the leg gets smaller as it gets to the bottom of the leg, i did this by scaling the leg down a bit at a time after i extruded it.

SWAT (week 7)
Strengths-
- drinking coffee and eating cake
- coming up with a good scene for my stamp.
- having the time to sit at the computer for a long time!
weaknesses-
- finding the time to come in out of lesson time to do the work.
- getting unhappy with my giraffe with having such a boisterous neck
- with my giraffe having thin legs
opportunities
- getting the grip with the program
- getting to see the product in this case a giraffe in 3d
threats
- one of the biggest threats that i have is that the world comes to an end and that i cant finish my giraffe and hand it in on the deadline.
- becoming very ill
- or my cat eats my hard drive
- not having the work by the deadline
hand

i have got a little more practices in 3ds max in creating a hand, i started off with a rectangle made it 90 by 150 and 30 high. i rounded off the front where the fingers were going to go, i did this by converting it to an editable Polly. i then extruded the fingers . then to create the thumb i extruded it 3 times creating 3 different segments and shaped it to the thumb. then i added a turbo smooth on it and here we go a hand.

tree
for my scene that i am going to create i am going to need a tree for my giraffe (which is coming along quite well) i created this tree by starting off with a box, converting it into a editable mesh and extruding changing the shape to create the branches. then i used mesh smooth to round it all off. just need to find out how to create and attach some leaves
